When we dove into our kitchen remodel, I couldn’t shake the idea of having open shelving.
“Open shelving transforms a kitchen into a canvas of culinary inspiration, where every ingredient and utensil becomes a work of art.”

Initially, I tried to persuade my husband to remove some cabinets, but we agreed to hold off on major ripping apart until we were ready for the full new cabinets and counters remodel.

However, during the priming and painting phase, I had a lightbulb moment. With the cabinet doors off, I decided to see how it would look to leave the cabinets near the sink without doors. My husband thought it was a bit silly, but I was determined to give it a try.

When decorating open shelving, start fresh by clearing the shelves. Mix and match items of different sizes and shapes for visual interest. Group similar items together for practicality; for example, store dishes in one section and baking essentials in another. Layer items to add depth and don’t hesitate to incorporate charming decor pieces that reflect your personality.
After some tinkering with ideas, voilà!

While it’s not a permanent solution, it’s perfect for now—practical for everyday use and great for when we have guests over. And, it didn’t cost us a thing. Gotta love a simple, cost-effective solution amidst the chaos of renovation!
