Hi there, friends! It’s been quite the whirlwind lately in our household, filled with incredible adventures, exciting news, and heartwarming milestones. Let me catch you up on what’s been happening in our lives lately!
First off, we embarked on an unforgettable journey to Mexico to visit some dear friends and missionaries, the Howards. This inspiring couple, along with their two boys, have dedicated their lives to spreading the gospel across various cities in Mexico. The experience was eye-opening and humbling, seeing firsthand the impact of their work and the love they pour into their mission. It’s moments like these that remind us of the beauty of selfless service and the power of faith.
We enjoyed sightseeing around Morelia and indulging in lots of local food (though we sadly got sick from it). The water there is contaminated and hard to avoid coming into contact with. Despite spending over a week there, the experience gave us a completely new perspective on life when we returned home. It made us realize how many things we take for granted and how insignificant some of our perceived “problems” truly are. The trip didn’t go as planned, but it turned out exactly how God intended it to be. It was the change we needed, and we gained a perspective that will stay with us forever.

Speaking of faith and blessings, we have some thrilling news of our own: Baby #2 is on the way, due January 30, 2025! We recently found out that we’ll be welcoming a precious baby girl into our family, and we simply cannot contain our excitement. We’ve been dreaming about her for so long and even have a name picked out. Lately, I’ve been feeling so sick and drained that keeping up with my daily duties has been a real challenge. My sweet husband has taken on many extra roles and is spoiling me rotten. I’m incredibly thankful to have him by my side.

This pregnancy is already shaping up to be a unique journey as we’ve opted for a midwife and a birthhouse setting. After a few challenging experiences in a hospital setting, this decision feels like a step towards reclaiming a more peaceful and intimate birth experience. We’re hopeful and praying for a smooth journey ahead as we prepare to welcome our daughter into the world.

Meanwhile, our little boy, who turned 2 recently (can you believe it?), continues to fill our days with boundless energy and endless laughter. We spent his birthday (he’s a July 4th baby) doing some of his favorite things and then celebrated him with family on the weekend.

He’s truly a joy to watch as he explores the world around him, giggles at his favorite songs (like “Old MacDonald Had a Farm”), and delights in everything animals, which inspired us to throw him a farm-themed birthday party! It was so nice (for this tired mama) having Chick-fil-A catered (his love for their sauce is contagious!) and bringing in a mobile petting zoo to our backyard. It was truly a day well spent!

One of his birthday gifts that has been keeping me busy is two baby ducks! Emmett and Fitzgerald were a gift I suggested to his uncle a while back, but I didn’t remember until it was too late, lol. I’m not sure who’s more obsessed with them, me or Ben, but these ducks are already so spoiled.

Safe to say, our baskets are overflowing! Amid these new chapters, I’ve embraced the invaluable lesson of embracing each day, prioritizing my health, and embracing the occasional chaos of our lively home. I encourage you to take a moment to slow down as well—it’s good for the soul! Until next time!
