Decorating our little dude’s room was the first thing I tackled when we moved in. At eight months pregnant, I felt an urgent need to nest. The home-buying process had been a whirlwind, and finally signing the papers brought me such relief, knowing I could start creating his space.
I found most of his decor during my thrifting adventures, and somehow, everything came together nicely. With Jacob just graduating from ULL and busy with his new job, we didn’t start any major remodeling until Benjamin was a few months old. Thankfully, his room was already a lovely baby blue, so it worked perfectly for the time being.

I spent my days painting our house room by room, taking advantage of the hours when Ben was playing at his grandparents’ house. During those time-crunched moments, I also found a way to fit in some pumping and snack breaks.
I decided to create an accent wall behind his crib, painting it a vibrant “Rainforest” green by Behr, while the other walls were a fresh “Blank Canvas” white by Behr. The combination brought a lively yet serene feel to his space.

We replaced the flooring all at once, so by the time we reached the back of the house, that dingy carpet was finally gone! Looking at pictures now, I still can’t help but loathe it—not to mention the lovely walking trails of dust lying underneath it.

Ben’s room has evolved as he’s grown, and he now has a toddler bed! One of my favorite features of his nursery was the antique rocking chair passed down from my husband’s grandma. I used it every day and night, and over time, I unfortunately damaged the wicker seat. Now, he has an antique wooden twin bed that was from my great-grandparents, and it fits perfectly in his space!

Here are some throwback pictures and fun facts! Ben had a special stuffed sloth we call “Lovie,” which he snuggled with every night and now takes everywhere as his beloved arm candy. I thought he would eventually warm up to other stuffed animals, but “Lovie” has remained his constant companion, traveling with us on flights and to events. He’s one lucky stuffed sloth! Originally, he came with warmable beads and couldn’t be washed, so I had to restuff him to keep him clean.

Also, the window in his room is where Ben took his very first baby steps. I couldn’t get the video to upload here, so you’ll just have to take my word for it!
